What does the exam registration fee cover?
The exam registration fee covers a single level exam (I or II) during a single exam period (March or September).  Please note that by registering for a single exam, you are committing yourself to a date- and time-specific exam, and you may not postpone from one testing period to another; e.g., you cannot change your March Level I exam registration to September. Exam registration fees do not include the cost of textbooks or expenses associated with the purchase of other curriculum materials. top

How do I submit payment? Can I purchase without a credit card?
Registration is an online process. The preferred method of payment is by credit card. Accepted credit cards: American Express, VISA, and MasterCard. For all other non-website payments (including wire transfers, checks, or money orders), an additional processing fee per registration will be charged. top

Can I pay for both exams in one transaction?
No. Each registration period is for one level-specific exam only. The Association does not allow prepayment for future exams. top

What is the refund policy?
The one-time program enrollment fee is non-refundable. The CAIA Association will grant refunds of exam registration and exam retake fees, but only if the registration is canceled within 30 days of the date you purchased the CAIA exam. Membership dues are also non-refundable. For more details, please review the Terms of Use Item 3b (Examination Registration Fees and Refunds). Exam registrations cannot be transferred to other individuals. top

I would like a receipt for my exam fees. How can I get one?
Go to your Account Profile and select the History tab. Under Purchase History on this tab, click "receipt" to generate a detailed receipt for each exam purchase. top

How do I receive the early registration discount?
Candidates who register during the first six weeks of any registration period receive a 10% discount off the exam registration fee only. To qualify for this discount, payment must be submitted by the early registration deadline. Please see Exam Dates for current timelines. top

I am currently registered to sit for an exam, but something has come up/my plans have changed. Can I postpone my exam to the next testing period?
No, registration is exam-specific and not open-ended. By registering for a single exam, you are committing yourself to a date- and time-specific exam, and you may not postpone from one testing period to another; e.g., you cannot change your March Level I exam registration to September. If you are unable to sit for the exam for which you are currently registered, or if you do not pass, you automatically become eligible to retake the same level exam during any future exam session for a $350 retake fee. top

Can you tell me if the company I work for is a member of AIMA or CISDM?
Discounts are available to employees of AIMA and CISDM member firms. To confirm membership, please check with your human resources department or contact these organizations directly. Note: Membership in AIMA and CISDM is country- and division-specific. top

I have already registered for the exam, but at the time, I did not realize the company I work for is a member of AIMA/CISDM. Can I now get a refund of the difference in fees?
No, individuals must claim any applicable discounts at the time of registration or forfeit said discount(s). The Association does not grant retroactive discounts. top

I am a currently a professor/graduate student and would like to register. Am I eligible for discounted rates?
Effective with the opening of registration for the September 2008 exams, the CAIA Association will no longer offer academic discounts to new applicants. Those applicants who have already been granted an academic discount may purchase the Level II exam using the academic discount for either the September 2008 or March 2009 exam session only if:

  1. such applicant received an academic discount on his or her Level I exam;
  2. such applicant is designated as a full-time graduate student or faculty member by his or her college or university during the early registration period;
  3. the completed application materials are submitted by the applicant by the close of early registration for the exam; and
  4. the Level II exam is purchased during either the September 2008 or March 2009 exam registration window.

Effective as of the close of registration for the March 2009 exams, no academic discounts will be available for any applicants. top
