CAIA Association to Close Registration for its March 2008 Level I and II Examinations on Monday, Jan. 28

AMHERST, MASS, Jan 14, 2007 - The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association® (CAIAA)-an independent, not-for-profit international organization that provides the only professional financial designation for the alternatives industry-will close registration for the March 2008 CAIASM Level I and Level II examinations on Monday, January 28.  The March 2008 exams have already garnered record enrollments, with over 2400 candidates registered to date.

"The broad recent impact on global credit markets triggered by the subprime fallout only serves to remind all AI professionals of the importance of understanding all the direct and potential corollary risks associated with any securitized investment," said Craig Asche, executive director.  "Given the pace of new product generation, it is no wonder so many organizations, representing both the buy and sell side of the industry, have made the CAIA Program an integral part of their training regimen."

In the five years since the inaugural CAIA class became the first to earn the CAIA designation, nearly 1500 individuals have become full CAIAA members, having passed both levels of the exam and fulfilled the professional prerequisites for membership.  The number of exam registrations has continued its rapid growth, from 1800 for the March 2007 exams to nearly 3000 one year later.  CAIA enrollees represent more than 70 countries and thousands of financial institutions, and include fund managers and administrators, investment advisors, consultants, security analysts, lawyers, accountants and educators.  The CAIA designation has quickly become the global hallmark of excellence in this rapidly growing field.
